The politics of music distribution in plain English with pictures....

"But when I make my music available for free, online, in file formats such as OGG that do not destroy software freedom like MP3 does, and let you decide for yourself whether you also want to come to my gig and buy a 12" vinyl record, a cassette tape, or a CD, because you want to support me and enable me to record and release more music, the DIY way, without evil record companies being involved in the process, then WE ARE PRACTICING MUTUAL AID!!!"

On The Road with Jesus is Angry: Part 1

This is the first post of the "On The Road" series, with Jesus is Angry.. The series will feature photographs from our vaults, showing life on tour with Jesus is Angry. The highs, the lows, the inbetweens.. There is an incredible amount of pictures on our archives, so this will probably keep on going for a good amount of time.. Enjoy!

This first part is from an Eyes/Jesus is Angry USA tour in 2010. Fuck chronological order.. We'll just post them as we find them!

Hobo-cooking at a truckstop somewhere in Utah or so...

Walking on Venice Beach, California, with Eyes... Cold and stinky water.

How many weirdos can fit in the back of a Jap import?

Tour exhaustion kicks in... Denver, Colorado....

Yet another tour comes to an end...

A couple of days or so ago, 5:30 am... The tour van is backing up under a walnut tree in Great Hobonia, where it can stay indefinitely while Jesus is recovering from the 2012 Eastern European tour.. He's been sleeping ever since, occasionally waking up to eat something and to answer nature's calls, making sure to promptly jump back to bed again. Alexandros, the spontaneous roadie, stayed in Novi Sad, SRB, to prepare for his round-the-world-by-bicycle trip. Wolf and Panos, the two Sexophone players who performed together with Jesus in two gigs in Berlin, DE, have emigrated there trying to find a better life. On the last gig of the tour, in Biologica Squat in Thessaloniki, GR, Foufoutos (Guitarist of the Females of Doubtful Reputation) spontaneously jumped on the bandwagon and joined Jesus on stage playing percussion. La Casa Fantom from a Forest in Norway were also playing that night. Quite an awesome match, musically. A big thank you to everyone who helped set this thing up, everyone who came to the gigs, everyone who was kind to us.

The plan for the winter is to stay put and work on recording some cool bands in the Full Wave Rectifier Laboratories Rural Culture Studios, while working on the mobile studio. We will also be throwing a party on December 21, to celebrate the end of the world. If the world really does end, this will have been the very last Jesus is Angry tour ever! If it doesn't, well... You might just have to put up with us a little longer...

Three free events in Berlin!!

So, Full Wave Rectifier Laboratories has a real treat for all you Berliners out there.. We're putting on, not one, but THREE completely free events in Berlin, all within the next 10 days!

Jesus is Angry will be the main performer, on a heavily customized electric guitar with loads of effects and live looping. There will be guest performers by his side on each event, including TWO sax players and a pianist. These events are not to be missed by any self-respecting experimental-music-loving individual who happens to be around Berlin on the following dates:

  1. Friday, October 12 - Weltraum (Ratiborstr 4)
  2. Thursday, October 18 - Kusskuss (Nogatstr 30)
  3. Friday, October 19 - Schenkladen Systemfehler (Jessnerstr 41)

All of these events are free, 100% DIY. Seriously. This is not the kind of shit that usually happens in Berlin. We don't just use these words to sound cool or for marketing. This is the real deal, DIY starving artists from Eastern European countries who have no money, make no money, and yet manage to take themselves and some pretty awesome sounding vintage gear you could drool over all night long, all over the world to entertain audiences in the know. As if this was not enough, there will also be a stand on all of the events, with a DIY distro featuring music, zines and other artwork from several like-minded artists from the Balkans.

This is a condensed attack on the mainstream art scene and the sterility often encountered in Western European metropolitan areas. Radical art by radical people, for radical audiences. After all, how politically radical can one be, when they are confined to the artistic mainstream? Come over and discover a new world. Your life will change forever.
